I dropped my iPad and it wont turn on

hi there,

today, i dropped my ipad on the floor. it wasnt a big fall, maybe about ten cm? if im not wrong it hit the corner, and right after that it blacked out.


i turned it on but all i saw was the backlight (the grey coloured one). there was no sound, only the sound when i charge it.


after hours, nothing changed. please help!

It sounds like it is damaged and may need to be repaired - if it is even possible to do so - but in the meantime try the old standby - reset it.


Hold the sleep and the home buttons down at the same time until the Apple logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons


From the way you describe it's condition - I wouldn't know what else to do other than to take to an Apple Store and let them see it.

I wish that I could answer that for you but I can't. You could try restoring the device if you want to, but from the way you described what happened, it seems like something was jarred loose on the inside and that is causing the problem.

Maybe someone else will post with a different suggestion that you can try as well.


What I can suggest is that you take it to an Apple Store and very politely and humbly explain to them what you did. Apple has known to be quite understanding in situations like this.


I can't guarantee that they will replace it, but if you are polite and act remorseful -Maybe they will replace it for you. All you can do is give it a try.
