Very ugly problem. We got the popup (below) in the middle of browsing asking to click on 'dailyprizes.net'. Now, when we start Safari, the browser freezes as shown below, and nearly all practical menu options are dimmed and cannot be selected.
I reinstalled Safari from here http://www.apple.com/safari/download/ but no joy.
I'm running Chrome and Netscape which have not been affected.
Using a 6 month old Macbook Pro running 10.7.2
Any ideas?
install ClamX ( http://www.clamxav.com/ ) and MacScan 2 ( http://macscan.securemac.com/ )

Try this very easy fix. It seems to work most of the time:
Open Safari by clicking on its icon in the dock, holding down shift when you click on it.

But what was the cause?
I think it's Lion resume feature and I think somebody is taking advantage of it badly. Use option+command+Q to close Safari so the last page content will not be reload again.
You are a genius. I had same problem and it worked.(shift/safari) That company (dailyprizes) should be barred from advertising.

As ckuan points out, it's just Lion's resume feature trying to reopen the last sites you had open when Safari quit. Nothing more sinister than that, and as crummy as dailyprizes.net is, it wasn't really their doing.
Thanks. But my wife not sure she quit safari and then went back on. problem is that the Dailyprize pop up should not have come on, and if it did,they should have had an op-out box rather than only option was to click"OK" and proceed to their shpiel?
