Why is my 4S dropping calls all the time?

My 4S has been dropping calls since I purchased it at Radio Shack. I have done every possible thing to fix it, traded out sim cards, reset everything etc...and it still drops calls. Any idea's?

iPhone 4S, iOS 5

iPhone 4s loses reception when the antenna band is touched. Plus, it’s enough to make the iPhone drop calls. This is a serious problem, and I can’t believe Apple let this slip through again!

Do you know if the 5.0.1 will address any antenna issues?

Apple hasn't publicly announced anything about a specific update. All they said is that they're working on a fix for battery drain issues. Discussion of rumors is prohibited by the forum ToU, and revealing confidential info from apple violates NDAs.

FYI, dropped calls are usually due to problems other than "antenna issues."

I am having the same issue with my iPhone 4s from Sprint. In addition to calls being dropped, often I can hear the person I am calling loud & clear, but they cannot hear me. I call back several times and after the 3rd or 4th time they finally hear me or they ignore my calls becasue assuming I'm pocket dialing. I had various Sprint issued Blackberry's the last 5-years and have never had this many service issues.

Hi, ive noticed you say it mainly happens in your house, I have been having similar problems with dropped calls etc, especially when answering my iphone 4s and getting 'call failed' after 2 seconds. After a day of testing various fones calling me and reboots and restarts etc i found that when i use my landline to call my iphone and my wifi is on i get the 'call failed' upon answering. when my wifi is switched off the call comes through perfectly every time. ive tried this most of the day with the same result. are you having the same experience? In my opinion its a software issue as my girlfriend has an iphone 4 which has worked perfectly well until the ios 5 update and shes having the same call drops and nobody getting thru to her phone, even worse than mine. hope theres a fix soon. i started a thread on this wifi issue. maybe my situation is a one off.

I have a Sprint iPhone 4s that I purchased from the Apple store that has been dropping calls since I updated to 5.0.1. I don't remember it ever dropping calls before the update. I don't have any type of case on my phone so I am in direct contact with the antenna during my calls. If I can find a slim case that I like, my problem might be solved?

I am going to try turning off the Wifi to see if that makes a difference. You could be right about the Wifi because I went and purchased the AT&T Microcell...and it STILL DROPPED CALLS! Needless to say I took back the Microcell. This is a OS5 issue and not a hardware issue...Apple needs to fix this fast! I am so dissatisfied with the 4S that I am contemplating getting a new phone from a new manufacturer and that is dissapointing because I have been a iPhone user from the beginning (with every iPhone model.)

Why is my 4S dropping calls all the time?
