iPhone 4 with iOS 5 Proximity Sensor Problem

My proximity sensor does not work on my iPhone 4 during calls. This started almost right after I updated to ios 5. How do I fix it? Thanks.

My husband is having the exact same problem since upgrading his iPhone 4 to iOS 5. Mine has been fine. I'm beginning to wonder if the sensor has always been hyper-sensitive and this iOS version is less tolerant. Anxiously awaiting a solution before he tosses it out the window.

If its a software issue why doesn't my phone have it, and why don't most of the other 250 million iPhones have it? (If they did there would be tens of thousands of posts about it, as demonstrated by the number of posts about battery life).

It may be an issue specifically with your software. If it is restoring as a New phone should fix it.

Thanks Lawrence for trying to help.

Unfortunately, as you can see from this thread, the exact issue (i.e. how to replicate it, how to fix it, etc) is not yet clear to all those who have it. Just because it's a software issue doesn't mean it has to manifest on all 250 million iPhones. It could be because of a combination of iOS 5 and a particular app or a particular setting.

iOS6 is coming out soon. Let's see if that fixes it.
