What's the best way to connect my old Sony DCR-TRV110E camcorder to my MBP (13in early 2011)?

Hi Folks,

I've got a load of video footage from my old Sony TRV110. The Sony has a DV I-Link output. Can I connect this into the Thunderbolt input on my MBP or is it best to connect via the Firewire 800?

Thanks

Hi Folks

You need a Firewire 800 to 400, 9 to 4 pin. The 4 pin plugs into the camera. This old Sony didn't have USB. The 9 pin plugs straight into the Mac. Switch it all on and IMovie works fine. Digital 8 to Mac. The quality isn't great compared to out newer Sony HD, but is the best we've seen without running the camera direct to the TV.

Cheers

Mark
