what is my computer's user name?
Every once in a while my computer wants me to input my user name and password (for example, to run ActiveX (?)). How do I find my user name? Stupid question, but I can't figure it out.

Your username is the short name you assigned to your admin account. If you open the /Users/ folder your username is the name you see under your Home folder. Generally, you can also enter the long name you assigned which is displayed in the Users and Groups preferences.
We have no way to know what your password is since you are the one who assigned it. It is not accessible. You can change it. See Reset User Password.
I did do that. I think the ActiveX thing has something to do with the company I work for; in fact, maybe all of my user name problems stem from the fact that I have no idea which user name is wanted at any given time.
Thank you all!
ActiveX runs only on Windows I think.
On a Mac:
For user name go to System Preferences > Users & Groups.
For Computer name go to System Preferences > Sharing.
go to system preferences > go to the system section > users and groups > there your info. will be!
NEVER input your Mac OS X login name and password into a web browser!
