How can I see song lyrics in iOS 5.0?

Before updating my iPad 2, I could see lyrics for the song playing just by touch the screen in "iPod" app (the screen in which the album cover appears). But now I can't see the lyrics at all, and I'm sure they're attached to the songs (I can see them in my iPod nano 5th; I sync the same songs between iPad and iPod). How can I do it now? Is there some way of seeing the lyrics, or the functionality was removed at all?

And, of course, is there anyone else having this same problem?

Thank you all =D

The feature has been removed from the Music app. Read this article from TUAW.

I copied and pasted the pertinent information here for you to read but you can read it in its entirety at the link above.

"Unfortunately, the UI confusion doesn't end at this screen. A single tap on album artwork used to bring up lyrics info, but that's been deprecated; tapping instead brings up the controls, with no lyrics info at all. Inexplicably, Apple has removed lyrics support entirely from the iPad's Music app in iOS 5; it feels like an intentional move, since multiple betas came and went without the feature being restored, and lyrics support hasn't returned for the public release. Even the iPod nano is capable of displaying lyrics, so the iPad is now the only Apple device other than the iPod shuffle that has no lyrics support. It's baffling."

Ok that maybe true but you are missing the big picture. If the iPad 2 can play music backwards and the iPhone can't that doesn't change the fact that you import music to them the exact same way; the topic of the discussion is how to get lyrics to show up on ios5, not iPad or iPad2. Judging from your reply you haven't tried my method. My device is ios5 and jailbroken and I am saying that converting to AAC should show lyrics on all devices despite the capabilities of one compared to another.

You will note that this discussion is in the Using iPad forum and that, all of the other posts are about the inability to view lyrics on an iPad. The discussion is not about transfer methods. Judging from your reply, you haven't read the entire discussion or the several other threads on the changes in the Music app for the iPad.

Best of luck.

"You can highlight each song and right click and select convert to AAC just like me, and im pretty sure your iPad supports AAC files created within iTunes."

My songs with lyrics are and have been AAC.

Previous to iOS 5, lyrics displayed fine on the iPad.

With iOS 5, lyrics do not display on the iPad, regardless of what is done to the song or how it is loaded to iTunes or the iPad.

No one is able to view lyrics on the iPad.

I just talked to an iPad tech person about this. He wasn't familiar with the issue; he has never used the lyrics function and obviously hadn't gotten any calls about it before. He did some checking and came back with the report that this is an issue that has been unresolved, which means that Apple doesn't know what it's going to do about it - if anything. Not much help..

I have also read that iTunes Match loses some lyrics; people are reporting about 20% missing in random order - some albums have lyrics for most songs but not all, and so forth, even though they were all on iTunes originally. So I don't think that iTunes Match is a solution. I've been looking for a third party app which will make use of the embedded lyrics, but all of the ones I've seen take lyrics off the web. Not much point doing that if you have already spent time inputting them with the old system.

I just spoke with another iPad technician. She too had not heard of the problem before, but when I suggested that she do a google search for "iPad no lyrics" she found the discussions. She told me that she would notify the engineering department about this and ask that they contact me regarding whether this was a bug which would be fixed or whether it was something that had been deliberate and would remain unchanged. She advised me to call back in a couple of days if I hadn't heard anything. We shall see. I was encouraged that she was at least forwarding it to the department that could resolve this question.

I tried AppleCare again and spoke to another technician. I had to keep stressing with everyone I talked to that the lyrics were still present on iPods and iPhones with the same upgrade, but no iPads displayed them now. She told me that unless I had spoken to a senior advisor last time, which apparently I had not, the person I talked with didn't have the authority to send the issue up to the engineers. She connected me with a senior advisor named Matt who did some research. He too (fifth one!) hadn't heard of the problem before, but when he checked he saw that it had definitely been reported numerous times; the engineers are aware of the issue because there are escalated tickets concerning it, but there is no official response yet. He said that Apple typically doesn't take features away - it adds them - so it was probably an error which will be fixed in a subsequent upgrade.

As I said, the engineers had a number of "escalated tickets" on the issue, so other complaints have obviously gotten through and the senior advisor said they were aware of it; he just didn't know what they were proposing to do about it. It sounds as though the engineers are the ones who deal with these things. I'm sure all the feedbacks helped; I sent one too.

I can't believe you. If they really took off the functionality, then why put it in the iPad user guide to iOS 5? (you can find the user guide for free in iBookstore). I believe it's a bug and that they're trying (or don't) fix it. Of course, I can be wrong, but it's weird to think that they took off the functionality and then describe a functionality that doesn't exist in the user guide...
