iSight app?, whats the name of it.
The iSight camera built into my iMac and the software to run it was in the application folder. It is no longer in the Application folder and therefore the built-in on my iMac does not work. I cannot seem to locate the application in the Apple downloads nor do I see it in the OS install discs.
What app, there are several that use iSight.
IE: iChat, PhotoBooth, iMovie.
If you have merely deleted one of your OS X 10.5 camera enabled apps from the Dock, you can drag it back to the Dock from your Mac's Finder > Go > Applications folder and it will be available for use again.
If you have actually deleted one or more of the apps from your Mac, you can reinstall them using the original software disks and the instructions from the user’s guide that came with your computer. (If you have upgraded an older Mac's OS to a newer OS, use the instructions that came with the newer OS installer disk.)
If you need other software for different camera tasks, some examples are linked in this list:
http://www.ralphjohns.co.uk/EZJim/EZJimpage7.html
It is the application of iSight not the applications that use iSight
iSight is hardware. http://www.ralphjohns.co.uk/EZJim/EZJimpage1.html
iSight is NOT an application, at least NOT for
your Mac OX X 10.5.7.
These (and other) applications can use iSight: http://www.ralphjohns.co.uk/EZJim/EZJimpage7.html
If you can tell us what you have lost, we can help you get back. Please try to explain your problem in different words.
If English is a second language for you, try explaining your problem in your mother tongue. Someone here may be able to translate and help.

The Leopard install disc has a "optional installs.mpkg" and it lists address book, iCal, iChat, iTunes, Mail, Oxford Dictionaries, Sarari, X11 but no iSight. I do not want to go through the full install to see if it will just show up.
iSight has been totally deleted from my computer. There should be a place on the Apple Support site of downloads listing iSight but can't locate one.
As explained above, you will NEVER find an application called iSight:
iSight is hardware.

Jeez Jim: I didn't realize my explanation sounded like I was using google translate to convert my problems to English. To me the problem is simple. ;-)) The problem is this:
I am using iMovie 5.0 and want to use the built-in iSight. In the past I would load iMovie and click the little icon of a video cam. The drop down menu listed iSight and when confirmed the cam would come on. Other times when using Skype I would go into Applications and click iSight to turn the cam on.
That is my problem and what I am asking is how can I make a movie using the iSight and hope this expains my problem more satisfactory.
Thomas
Fresh cyber eyes on your problem.........
Other times when using Skype I would go into Applications and click iSight to turn the cam on.
Since you insist that you have/had an iSight application, it would help everyone here trying to help you if you would do a Google image search of this iSight application and copy paste the app icon picture here using the reply post camera icon.
Like EZ Jim confirmed, iSight is hardware:
External iSight

Built-in iSight

================================
If iSight is not showing in the drop down menus try the following suggestions:
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2090How to Troubleshoot iSight
my isight camera is not working-not recognised with photo booth or ichat
To fix your iSight, shut down computer. Reboot in safe mode (press power button and then hold shift key down). After computer boots, restart again. Hopefully, your iSight will start working again.

Thanks for the expanded explanation, Thomas!
I certainly intended nothing but to try to offer efficient help. Your response really helped me understand.
(1) Based on your new information, I think you should start with Baby Boomer's suggestion to try Apple's http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2090
The checks suggested there can help you identify problem software or user account configurations.
If those are OK, the "reset" suggested in the article often restores normal iSight function.
(2) Your posted system info shows "Mac OS X (10.5.7)"
Even if you fix your problem with Apple's Troubleshooting suggestions, unless you have a compelling reason for NOT doing so, I suggest you apply the latest Combo Update to make your system current and secure.
• Use Disk Utility to repair permissions and then
download and apply the 10.5.8 Combo Update:
http://support.apple.com/kb/DL866
• Repair permissions again immediately following the
system restart that completes the Combo update.
The Combo version of updates can sometimes correct
strange problems like yours.
(3) Next, you should also use your Mac's
> Software Update... menu command to be sure
your other Apple software is up to date.
(4) If Skype remains a problem, check to be sure you are using the latest version of Skype that is compatible with your system.
(5) Please let us know how it goes.
Cheers,
Jim
