I have the same troubles... My battery life prior to iOS5.0.1 was ok but since the update my phone goes to 98% withing 10 mins and an hour later with about 10 text messages, i'm at 92%!!! Someone please help! I had the iPhone 4 and had no battery troubles so my set up is exactly the same. I need to get back to iOS5.0 if possible!

Yes, to my knowledge all settings on my phone were identical before and after update. Nothing new was installed or used. All notifications are the same and all location settings are the same. I've restarted and have done a hard reset. Nothing seems to help. This thing is now leaking like a sieve.

Please don't blame the customer. By the number and rate of posting there is clearly an issue with 5.0.1. Personally, I'd highly recommend that anyone who has acceptable battery life not upgrade. I'm extremely dissapointed with Apple. The #1 goal of an upgrade should be to not make things worse.

My battery life seems to be worse with 5.0.1 as well. No scientific testing, I have the same settings as before the update, with the same apps running in the background as I always do. I've been off the charger for just over 2 hours, sent about 10 text messages, checked mail 3 times briefly, and I'm down to 92%. I believe there may be a bug or two to be caught in a future update.

I have an iPhone 4 and I wish I'd never "upgraded" to iOS 5.0. The battery drains at the rate of 1% per MINUTE! I got the 5.0.1 patch last night and SAME THING! What good is it to have a phone where the battery drains at 1% every few minutes? Prior to the 5.0.1 upgrade, the phone completely froze on me. No buttons worked. Couldn't even turn it off. Put it in my purse and checked it 20 mintues later where it was in sleep mode, but drained by 15% more. I only have emal running and maybe one other app. What do I do?

I'm sorry guys that the update did not fix your battery issues. I can only relate to you my experience. My iPhone 4S replaced a Motorola Droid, 1st generation. My place of work does not allow employees to have cell phones. At the end of the day, my Droid still had about 90% charge while sitting in my car. The iPhone 4S was another story. Same period of time unused sitting in my car was between 65% to 70%. The amount of charge left seem to have something to do with the number of emails I receieved through out the day. The more emails, the lower the amount of charge left. Today, when I got in my car to check see if there was any difference after the 5.01 update I was very surprised. The reading was 93% with three emails. The update seemed to work for me. At least for the time being. I do hope that this battery issue gets fixed to everyone's liking soon. As an aside, I do not see any difference in the battery performance in my iPad 2 since the update. The battery was just OK before, nothing like the 10 hours Apple claimed. It seems to discharge at about the same rate.

The IOS 5.01 is not doing any good to my battery..it drains faster than usual and now whenever i am typing on safRi, it lags. This is annoying when you are typing quite fast. I hope that such problems will be fixed sooner rather than later like what apple is known for doing.."taking your own sweet time". This is my first ever ios update since i recently switched from a bb to the iphone 4s..very disappointing.
