I've been looking for hours for a way to install the Windows drivers on Boot Camp. I have missplaced the original disc that came with this 17" MBP. I even have a set for my other computer, a 13" MBP, but I tried them and they don't seem to work.
I refuse to believe that Apple won't let me fully use Boot Camp unless I have the original disc. This makes no sense.

Call Apple Customer Support. Give the serial number, pay a shipping fee. They will send replacement disks with the appropriate hardware drivers for your specific system.
BootCamp needs those disks, because you need the hardware drivers for the trackpad/display/GPU/etc. Only Apple makes drivers for Apple hardware.
Your signature states "Mac OS X 10.7.2" which is OSX Lion.
If correct you can use the BootCamp Assistant in OSx to download the "Windows Support Software" which is the BootCamp Drivers.

Thanks! Yeah, I have two Macs, mine is the happy one with Lion, the other one, from work, has Snow Leopard with the previous Boot Camp and I cannot upgrade it. My issue is there, in the Boot Camp 3 there is no option to download drivers.
Yes, that's correct.
For OSX Snow Leopard Macs you need the OSX Snow Leopard Installation DVD that came with the Mac when bought.
The download possibility is new with OSX Lion.

I think this is very unfortunate. I am sure Apple has enough space/bandwith to allow users of previous OS Xs to download the drivers as well. Well... we certainly do not live in a perfect world.

I don't think it has to do with bandwidth but more with a neccessity to make a new version of the BootCamp Assistant in Snow Leopard Apples wish to get the users to move to Lion.
And the Install DVD are also vital for troubleshooting (when needded) the installed Snow Leopard.
And don't forget your were the one who "misplaced" the DVDs (no blame, don't get me wrong). 😉
