Iphone 4s- Siri cannot make phone calls?

Hi, same here siri can make international calls but not any local calls... wow that's really strange... everyone I know that has an iPhone 4s and lives in Cyprus has the same problem... I have tried changing the international settings, removing the ext, restoring, adding "0" at the end or +1 at the beginning and I have activated my iPhone.. Nothing worked. The mobile numbers in Cyprus look like this ---> +357 99XXXXXX why is this happening ? I can call U.S and U.K numbers with siri but not any local lol everything ells is perfect, my contacts are organized just fine and when I receive a call or a msg the contact name shows up correctly...

I am from Cyprus to and have exactly the same problem. I have also tried to create a new contact (one that did not come from outlook synchronisation) but no go 😟 .

Any other ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Hi diengo I called apple and they told me that siri is having trouble making phone calls in some countries… The lady I spoke to told me that many people are calling about this problem but there is nothing that they can do… She said to wait for an update that is going to fix this… Don't forget, Siri is in beta.. 😟 Well I guess we'll just have to wait and see...

I have same problem, I command siri to make phone call for overseas no like SIngapore or Australian No it works, but to local no it doesnt work throught Siri. but manual call it work to local no.

Hope to get fix this soon or any hints for this much appreciated.

What if you guys try this:

Go to Settings-----> General ---------> International--------->Region Format --------> Greek------>Cyprus

Then turn your phone off and turn it back on.

The same goes for me -living in Cyprus also and siri can not make local phone calls. I have just tried your suggestion changing the settings but still doesn't works. It' s a kind of disappointment........

I think I found the solution, although I'll test it thoroughly. Dial *228 and press 1 to configure the phone. I asked Siri to call two numbers she previously couldn't call... and they went through! Good luck with this.

Hi, all! I am in Uzbekistan. Have noted the exact same problem today. *228 doesn't work. Tomorrow will ask whether anybody else having the same problems here with Siri....probably they are. Any solution. Cannot contact TechSupport

I have this same problem, and I also have the issue that contacts are recognized only in SMS and not in receiving calls (I store my contacts in intl format - i.e. +94 xxxxxxxxx). If I store it as 0xxxxxxx then number recognition works when calling but not SMS. Of course it is an option to store both numbers, but that,s a silly workaround on a device that cost 649$ when my 40$ dumb phone can manage effortlessly.

I think the problems are connected, and that it is to do with recognizing the local country code in Sri Lanka. I used the phone in India (Vodafone in Chennai) and the number recognition was not an issue - I.e. local numbers saved in intl format were recognized in calls and SMS. (didn't try to use siri for dialing so can't comment on that)

Try it with talk to Siri like this... "(name that you want call) contact" and then tap the number....

I just have my new iphone 4s, like it so much!

But..there's one problem that i cannot make a phone call with "siri". The message : "Sorry xxx, I can't call xxxx mobile number" .

Can you help me with this problem?

Siri unable to make a call in Indonesia (local) but Siri can make call for international... You may try ...

Say it like this "(name that you want to call) contact" to siri and tap it shows number you may tap it and it will call ....
