iPod 4g "Waiting for sync to start" error

I had exactly the same problem. I tried ejecting, restoring, no joy.

SOLUTION: disconnect iPod, close iTunes, restart iTunes with iPod disconnected, then plug in iPod. No idea why this works, but it does.

The problem seems to be in the photo syncing portion of the routine.

I have the same problem with my iPhone 4S,

I go to sync it, and it stays at "waiting for sync to start" it'll stay there for up to 15-20min then I'll get this message from iTunes;

"the iphone could not be synced because the sync session failed to start"

I tried closing iTunes reconnecting my phone.

I've tried the tricks in the lin that Photojackson posted above ^

Nothing seems to work..

If I put my phone in DFU mode, I can get it to restore. It will restore just fine.

But once that's done, if I try to sync, it's back the the original "Waiting for sync to start" problem.

It's driving me insane!

Thanks Robert, that worked for my phone. I had previous tried resetting the iPhone4, but that didn't work, although on another forum I saw comments that said it worked for them. Go figure.
