Depends how your phone was jailbroken. You need to be aware of the fact that you may NEVER be able to install a stock iOS on your phone...one of the big downsides to jailbreaking. Since we don't know how your phone was jailbroken, if you attempt to update and the update fails, you could be left with a brick and no one here can help you...per this forum's terms of use.

I'm not so sure about that. I've jailbroken every version of the iPhone (except the 4S), with every version of jailbreak software, and have never had a problem updating. At worst, one would have to put the iPhone into DFU mode and restore. I finally stopped jailbreaking only because Apple has everything in iOS now that I was jailbreaking for in the first place. Oh, and it's just a pain in the rear to have to re-jailbreak everytime there's a new update.

on a weekly basis man??? come on... you see "bricked-out" iphones evey week? there's no way for an iphone to black out because of a jailbreak-punishment-software! besides, if there was one, wouldn't it be logical for it to actually prevent the phone to be jailbroken? there's no such thing @jameifromknoxville and @yousseff... you're good to go!

just plug it in, and click update... worse case scenario, if the process stops for some unknown reason (which never ever happened to me) (and btw i did this like 10 times!), just
- plug the iphone in,
- turn it off "after" plugging it in
- then push and keep down both the home and the power button.
- when you see the logo, let go of the power button and keep holding down the home button.

- since it is already connected to the computer, itunes recognizes it as an iphone in "recovery" mode,

- follow the instructions on your desktop!
