iPhone 4s location wrong... Why?

My location on my 4s is completely out, it says I'm about 30 miles away from where I actually am. It does this 90% of the time! And I'm not sure what I can do to fix it. My iPad 2 and other family members iPhone 4 on the same wifi etc. doesn't have any prOblems with this.

iPhone 4S, iOS 5

I have done some tests with MotionX GPS (you can choose between WiFi Triangulation or GPS) and the problem occurs when there is no GPS signal and the phone is using WiFi triangulation, I registered my wifi mac address with Skyhook and now my location at home is a lot better although it still puts me in Trafford sometimes, it seems as though when it can't find my location with WiFi triangulatioin or GPS it just puts me in a default location rather than leaving me where I was last until it can get a proper fix. So maybe it is an IOS5 problem but it doesn't appear to be happening to everyone?

I have updated my phone to IOS5.01 and it hasn't made any difference to my location services. They are still wrong and putting me in Manchester instead of Matlock until I get a GPS signal.

I am seriously thinking of taking it back and seeing if a new one will work correctly.

The same thing is happening to me, my iPhone 4S gives me a location about 50 miles away from me! It must be an issue with the 4S and not iOS 5 'cause my iPhone 4 and iPad are both giving an accurate location. I'm gonna take my iPhone to the Apple store on Sunday and ask them to take a look at it. (However, knowing my luck it will work just fine in the store)

Well I phoned Apple support and they sent me to the store at Meadowhell, they didn't have any idea about the problem but replaced my iphone 64gig 4S with a new one. When I got home and tried it the problem with the location services was still there, i.e. it locates me about 50 miles away in Manchester.

It is definitely a 4S problem as the other iPhones in the house don't have this problem, also the location services work correctly if I put the phone in flight mode, turn WiFi on and turn the location services off and then on again so the phone is just using WiFi triangulaton, so it must something to do witht the way the 4S uses the phone masts to determine location.

I am now currently doing some testing in conjunction with Apple's second line support, I will keep you informed.

Top tip, if you are going to an Apple store make an appointment first as people that hadn't were queuing out of the door when I went.

Thought I'd just add my tuppence:

I'm in Liverpool. Upgraded from a 3GS today - location detected fine connected to phone network & wifi or wifi alone - but 4S has my location as Stoke-on-Trent, about 50 miles away. If I reboot, it correctly pinpoints Liverpool, but loses it within minutes.

I have the same issue. My location says I am 100 miles from my position. It works fine when I am not in Wi-fi. This is my second IPhone 4s as I returned my first one thinking that would solve the problem. When I was in the Apple store on their Wi-Fi it worked fine (typical). They replaced it saying they had never come across this problem before. I really hope to get a fix for this problem.
