Q: iPhone 4s location wrong... Why?

My location on my 4s is completely out, it says I'm about 30 miles away from where I actually am.  It does this 90% of the time! And I'm not sure what I can do to fix it.  My iPad 2 and other family members iPhone 4 on the same wifi etc. doesn't have any prOblems with this.

iPhone 4S, iOS 5

I am having sort of the same problem, when i press on a contacts address it was placing their address like 10 miles away. I found that if you remove the United States from the address it works but you have to do it in the search bar. then it will go to the Correct Address. How I fixed it on the phone is i deleted the Address from his Contacts list then wen to the actual address and addeded it to the contacts name now it shows the correct Address when his address is chosen.. Hope this helps.....

I'm actually in Vermont, but my iPhone shows me as being in Bangkok. Nice place, but I'm not there.

CHeck out this link https://discussions.apple.com/thread/1658839?start=0&tstart=0 .  I bet all are using a router that has previously been registered to Skyhook elsewhere.  I know I am!  Maybe resetting router to factory default may help but I suspect it is a case of re linking your router MAC address to Skyhook from your new location.

Apple stopped using Skyhook for location services, I think with the release of iOS 4 (maybe 5).  Whatever database Apple is using may have incorrect information, but sending your updated information to Skyhook won't do you any good.

I read your advice, didn't understand it at all but fussed with resetting SOMETHING, and it worked.  After more than a month, I now have wifi on my4s!  Perplexing as it always worked on my 4.  I guess your guidance was spiritual but I will take it any way it comes.  Thanks.

When at home in Umbria, Italy, both my iPod touch and husbands iPhone report that we are in Weston super mare, uk! We've reported the problem loads of times but nothing has changed.  We've updated Os (but wish we hadn't cos the maps on ios4 soooo much better). We have given map refs address, tel nos!  Can't someone do something?  Makes MobileMe and other apps useless!

Looks like I now have the issue, as well, on my iPhone 5. I reset the network settings and it did not help. I've tried locating my phone using only WiFi and LTE: both say I am in Italy! I'm in Michigan...

    Help?

I followed Anjum.Sohail's instructions and determined the following:

I disabled both Location Services and WiFi, waited a couple of minutes, then turned Location Services back on (leaving WiFi off). My iPhone found me in the correct location! As soon as I turned WiFi back on and I connected, it sent me right back to Italy. I deleted my work's wireless profile and reinstalled it, but that did not seem to work. Each time I reconnect to it, my phone continues to think that I am in Italy until I repeat the steps listed above.

I've contacted our Apple rep to see if he can help me tackle this issue. I'll be sure to post any solutions we may find.

Bill, perhaps we should swap iphones!

Seems there are thousands of us with this location problem - it's ridiculous.  The 4s was always perfect.  Come on Apple pull your finger out and address this problem or a whole load of us will be migrating to other phones.

My iPhone and iPad GPS both show me to be in Ketchikan, Alaska on the island of Revillagigedo, but both say I am on Unamak Island which is about 1000 miles West.  Can someone tell me where I can go to report this?

It is Siri!!! I never use Siri anyways.

So this never used to happen to me, and then I updated iPhone OS, then, wrong location every time. Sometimes I was even in the ocean, or in a bush, or across town. Strange Siri... What are you doing Siri?

So thanks Flavius! I turned off Siri and my location works again.

    The answer is.... "Disable Siri"
