No user can login (login loop)

Hi..

Not sure if others are experiencing this?

On the odd occasion users including the admin user, can not login in using Lion. This has happened on MacBook airs and MacBook pros on 10.7.1 and 10.7.2.

I know others have reported the keyboard layout may change its language so cause issues with the keyboard and then they have issues loging in.

But this is just plain crazy it recognises the password starts to find the user info and then returns to the login window.

The only way i have so far worked out to sort this out is do a complete restore using the restore partition.. Very slow but effective..

Or replace the image with another one from a drive. Once the 10.7.2 combo has been applied to the image otherwise it happens again with out the update if restored.

Repairing the permission has no effect neither does creating a root user or resetting the password using terminal. The root user appears on the login but the same thing happens it looks to start the login then returns to the screen.

This very strange.. Is there a file being corrupted?

Any help appreciated..

Rob

Hi Tom

Thanks but yep I tried that after all the over posts which were similar about the loop in login,

so I made sure it was a british keyboard layout and that I could change it on the login window if needed..

It made no difference.

By the way the update combo to 10.7.2 it did nothing to the latest issue.

So it looks like the only answer is a restore via the partition..

I just wish it was easier..

Infinite Login Loop
I am having the same problem for the second time! First it was on my Imac now on my macbook pro.I see that someone is having the same problem. They mention that they installed iworks and Adobe CS5. Me too! The first time, on my imac, I went to the mac store and they had no idea so they reinstalled lion. The problem went away. It has been several months and hopefully it stays away.
Now on my MBP, I did a clean install. I reformatted the hard drive and installed Lion from an SD card. It worked great then i installed iworks and Adobe CS5. After 2 reboots i got the login loop. I reinstalled Lion from SD card (can be USB or DVD).I have restarted the MBP about a dozen times now and it seems to be working ok .For now, no more login loop.
* for those wanting to try this: I searched for: how to do a clean install of mac os x lion
I hope this helps.

Well thought I would share my findings... and the answer to this frustrating lion login loop.

I started to narrow down the reasons for it looping and addressing the different softwares installed etc.. working backwards.

Microsoft Office 2011 is the culprit (not sure if iworks is also an offender, not tried it but very possibly). So a little more digging and i finally found some helpful sites which also goes about fixing the issue without a reinstall of Lion...
