If you see a message like "BOOTMGR is missing," that either means:

  1. Something has tampered with (deleted or altered) the Windows boot loader, OR
  2. You did not follow the Boot Camp Setup guide properly, which required you to format the prepared Boot Camp volume while setting up Windows, OR
  3. The Boot Camp volume and/or your hard disk is damaged in some way. Most likely, you don't know why or how it got to be damaged, but the problem now prevents Windows from starting at all.

Scenario 1 seems the most likely. Running on that basis, you should be able to do a Startup Repair from your Windows disc.

Start Windows Setup as if you were going to install Windows again, but this time, click the option "Repair your computer". One of the options here should be "Startup Repair". Follow the ensuing wizard Windows will check for inconsistencies that prevent it from booting correctly, though it does take a fair bit of time doing so. If that fixed anything, exit Setup and try again to boot Windows. If your attempt failed, then boot the Windows DVD again, choose "Repair your computer", and then go to a command prompt.

Once here, you can run the following commands in order, pressing [Return] after each. I'll tell you what they do in square brackets ([])

c: [Change the current focus to the C drive]

cd\ [Change to the root directory level. If we're there, this command won't do much, but it doesn't hurt anything anyway]

attrib -c bootmgr [Remove the compression flag from the indicated file BOOTMGR, decompressing it]

exit [Close the prompt window and go back to the options dialog]

If that fails, you can load a fresh copy of Windows instead, which you'll do anyway if Seenario 2 or 3 is in play.
