Q: Don't Want Office for Mac 2011 AND 2008

Had Apple transfer my MacBook Pro to new Air with Office for Mac 2008, but was told it would not be compatible and had to purchase Office for Mac 2011. They installed it for me, but it did not replace the 2008.  Now I have two copies and a slow computer.  FIrst, it seems the 2008 worked fine and I payed a few hundred dollars for software I don't need, and second, how do I uninstall one of them?
