What's going on?

My macbookpro more than meets the specs from APPLE, but no matter what I do all I get is beach balls.

Any suggestions?

Well, there are the usual steps: Trash Prefs, Repair Permissions, Verify Disk,Software Update. If ppush comes to shove, re-install.

Do you have adequate fre space on your boot and media drives?

    Good luck.

I got Compressor today and am getting the same behavior from the start.  Everytime I click anything or try to do anything, I get a couple of minutes of beachball.

200 gig free space, everything seems up-to-date, also have QT pro installed

    Yeah, I gave up....

I have plenty of space... did the permissions thing, etc....

I had a 3 minute 1080p video that I set up to export through compressor (iPad and 720p version) and the time to export was 1800 hours!! Yeah, riiiight.

I'll stick with MPEG Stream clip and exporting for each need.

    $50 = flush!

Use this tool to trash prefs.

If that doesn't do it, uninstall and re-install.
