Q: RPL_Upgrade process
Hi,
We had an issue with the file system on our SAN that resulted in the volume un-mounting. A cvfsck run fixed errors and a resulting run showed no further errors to fix. Following a complete shut-down of the whole system the volumes refuse to mount.
Checking the cvlog it appears that the system has been flagged for a rebuild of the RPL data. At present the system is removing the current RPL data with the fsm process running at 100% on one core and activity running through the metadata LUN. Its been running for 40 hours now and is up to 3100 IEL Blocks. Does anyone know what an IEL block actually is ? Is there any way to link this increasing figure to the current system so i can in some way extrapolate a finish time for this process ?
From the info obtained it would appear that not being able to mount the volume while this process is running is expected behaviour but it would be good to know what the expected time-frame for completion is as it may be quicker to destroy the volume and restore from tape.
Any insight would be greatly appreciated.
