iPhone Notes has stopped syncing to Mac

Two things have stopped working with my iPhone recently.

1. iTunes no longer launches automatically when I plug in my iPhone to my iMac.

2. The iPhone Notes app has stopped syncing via USB lead between the iPhone and the iMac.

I have tried closing applications, and rebooting both the iPhone and iMac, but this makes no difference.

I'm running OS X 10.6.8 on my iMac.

My iPhone is a 3G running iOS 4.2.1

Can anyone help?

This sounds like a bug introduced by a recent software update. Is anyone at Apple listening?

Found the solution with help from FromOZ on another post.

Delete iTunesHelper from "System Preferences - (System) - Accounts - your account - Login items".

Add back iTunes to the login items. This will add back the iTunesHelper application too.

If you don't want iTunes launching at startup then just remove iTunes from the login items list, leaving iTunesHelper in the list.
