Problems on importing MiniDV from Sony DCR-HC42E PAL

Hi all, I'm trying to import some MiniDV from Sony DCR-HC42E PAL and my configuration is:

- iMovie 10 or 11

- Videocamera connected using Firewire cable

- MiniDv in LP format

My problem is that I'm able to import the video but it seems that iMovie is importing it in "SP" regardless the fact that it should be "LP".

Is someone experiencing the same problem ? Am I missing something?

Hi

This is most probably a tough problem

MiniDv in LP format

If so then You must use same Camera as recorded it - to narrow tolerances to be able to use another one.

If this is the Camera then try

• Import into iMovie HD6 and turn off - import as individual clips

Then if imported OK - immediately - Extract Audio - else it goes out of sync. Then SAVE

And now put a new tape into Camera and Copy back to a New tape and in SP-Mode !

I never use LP-mode as when Camera dies - so does all LP-mode recordings - That Bad - YES

Many thanks for this feedback.

Looking other posts it seems that iMovie 10/11 can only work properly importing in SP mode ...

Is anyone aware if this problem affects Adobe Premiere as well ?

Just for benefits of all .... after some investigations it seems thst this problem is related to the Firewire "technology/connection", infact importin LP tapes using RCA (Composite) or S-Video it works perfectly (even with lower quality ...)
