Dec 30, 2013 4:55 AM in response to Tom Wolskyby RorySteel,Does yours keep the 120fps though? I can import 120 but it reduces it to 60 at best. 60fps seems to be FCPX highest frame rate

Dec 30, 2013 5:08 AM in response to RorySteelby Tom Wolsky,There is no edit frame rate of 120. Nobody uses 120 for delivery. The only purpose for 120 is acquisition usually for slomo. For delivery it's a waste of bandwidth.

Dec 30, 2013 5:12 AM in response to Tom Wolskyby RorySteel,I do usually only export in 30fps for that very reason but for editing work flow a 60fps limit is frustrating. You have to export via gopro app at 25% speed then retime. As someone that uses GoPro's it is doubling editing time. Now the iPhone5s is 120fps you will have to do the same. There should be an import option that does drop frames even if when you export is does.

Dec 30, 2013 5:45 AM in response to RorySteelby Tom Wolsky,What delivery frame rate are you using? What's the point of going through the GoPro software? What's it doing for you? You put your 120 media into a 29.97fps project or whatever and it's conformed to that frame rate. When you want to make it slomo you use the the automatic speed function.

Dec 30, 2013 6:05 AM in response to Tom Wolskyby Subboss85,Thanks guys. This is an extremely old thread from about two years ago, where the GoPro app and final cut were not supporting the functions, but they do now and I haven't had any issues once the next update was available. Thanks again!

Jun 9, 2016 4:03 AM in response to Tom Wolskyby peppespizza,Hi Tom.
How come that Imovie imports scenes with 120 FPS and plays them in slowmotion like they were ment to be? And not FCPx?

Jun 9, 2016 5:36 AM in response to Subboss85by Tom Wolsky,BBecause it's a different application? One second is one second. Shooting 120 doesn't make it slow motion, playing it back at a different frame rate does. That's what putting it in a project and setting automatic speed does.

Yes i understood its a diffrent application :-) But if it's possible to built it in Imovie, why cant it be build in FCPx?
Thank you for the answer.

Jun 9, 2016 6:13 AM in response to peppespizzaby Tom Wolsky,Because that would be misleading. What frame rate does it use to play back: 23.98, 29.97, 59.94? They will all produce different results; the video will look different. You want it to play back at the frame rate your project's going to be. To do that you have to put it in a project of a specific frame rate.

Jun 9, 2016 6:31 AM in response to Tom Wolskyby peppespizza,Hi. I usaly play back at 23.98. I just use the 120 fps to get a good slowmotion, because i dont think the slowmotion is so good in FCPx.
