after uptade to ios5 my camera does not work

my camera was taking pictures yesterday before i installed ios5 and now the shutter stays closed

My Ipad2 does the same thing. After updateing to IOS5, the cammera shutter stays cloased. Luckly I just bought mine 2 days ago, so I will be exchanging it today. I dont think I will be updatingto IOS5 until Apple can resolve this issue. I have been seeing it pop up frequently now.

I have same issue, camera is frozen for front facing pictures. Any solution?

I have the same issue. I upgraded to ios5 then the camera was frozen and no longer works. I took it into an Apple store and they said I had some hardware damage that look to be consistent with moisture getting in through the headphone jack. I accepted that answer and went on my way since my warranty was over 100 days past and I did not feel like paying $100 for a repair with the 4s upgrade avaible with my account soon. I started to look at some other apps that use the camera, the Facebook photo share in the FB app, the amazon bar code scan, camera+ and they all work. There is definitely some kind of software bug with ios5, based on my experience, that freezes the camera. I would suggest taking it into apple to have it looked at or just using a camera app like camera+ to take pictures.

Loren, enjoy your camera. Mine worked also for some time after upgrade my 3gs to ios5. Not any more now. No camera, no facebook, no bar-code-scan, nothing ! Should i purchase camera + ?

for all who have a "not working camera"

restart the device and try again

or

restart any app where you can use a camera, and try the camrea again.

i hope this will fix it.

horribel design, but it works

(although, i already spotted some hesitations on opening my camera ... it will be me, i suppose ;-)
