Upgraded to Lion, shut down it asks me for a name and password but everything I use will not turn computer off? What is it looking for?

I upgraded to Lion, now when I try to shut down it asks me for a name and password. All names and passwords I enter are not excepted and I cannot shut my machine off, I don't like to keep my machine on 24/7.

exit the application asking your for your info. then shut down

On a hunch, go to System Preferences > Users & Groups. Click the Login Options item at the bottom of the left pane.

In the right pane, check the setting for "Display login window as:" - if it is set to "Name and password", try changing it to "List of users".
