iTunes Match question

Hi,

I have a question about iTunes Match -- how will it handle remastered versions of albums?

In other words, if I have the new remastered version of Black Sabbath Paranoid, will

iTunes Match match this with the original version, or will it be smart enough to know

this is a new remastered version? I ask because I don't want iTunes to match up my remastered

tracks with the old original tracks. I've labeled these tracks with "Remastered" in the

album title, but my understanding is that iTunes Match does not use titles; curious

to see how it will handle this case.

Thanks,

Kevin

Kevin,

The details of the matching algorithm are not yet known. It is likely to be less than 100% reliable. We do not yet know how accurately it will handle the case you describe (or the converse case where somebody appends "[Remastered]" to their album name in order to get Match to cough up the better copy).

However, we do have the following warning from the iTunes Store Terms and Conditions: "iTunes Match is provided on an “AS IS” basis and may contain errors or inaccuracies that could cause failures, corruption or loss of data and/or information..."

So plan accordingly, and keep local backups for the foreseeable future.
