Certainly you can. I sync three iDevices to one iTunes library using the same Apple ID and iTunes account. I just select the content that I want to put on each device to suit my wishes or needs and then I sync the device.

iTunes will remember the content that it synced the last time on each device. You can sync as many iDevices as you own to the same iTunes library using the same account.

I have something in my head reminding me that the number is 10 iOS devices for each Mac or Apple ID, or something, not unlimited. I shall have to do a search, I think that it is in the Terms of Use for iTunes/MAS.

Found it - It is a total of 10 devices, with no more than 5 of them being computers authorized to use the content. I have 4 computers (3 Macs + 1 PC) authorized for my content, so I can also legally sync 6 iOS devices to get my total of 10. (If I am understanding the legalese correctly)

Association of Associated Devices is subject to the following terms:

[i] You may auto-download iTunes Auto-Delivery Content or download previously-purchased iTunes Eligible Content from an Account on up to 10 Associated Devices, provided no more than 5 are iTunes-authorized computers.

(ii) An Associated Device can be associated with only one Account at any given time.

(iii) You may switch an Associated Device to a different Account only once every 90 days.

(iv) You may download previously-purchased free content onto an unlimited number of devices while it is free on the iTunes Service, but on no more than 5 iTunes-authorized computers.

An Apple TV is not an “Associated Device.” However, TV show iTunes Products may be played back on compatible Apple TVs, provided that you may only play back any such TV show on a limited number of Apple TVs at the same time.

Some pieces of iTunes Eligible Content may be large, and significant data charges may result from delivery of such iTunes Eligible Content over a data connection.

Thank you very much for your quick answers!!......but I have now another question........The Ipad 2 is new and I need to do the initial configuration so...... when I start the configuration in my Ibook with the Itunes......Shall I need to choose the option "Start as a new Ipad or "use the configuration of my old Ipad"?........and...If it takes the information from my old Ipad....will they have the same name?..would this be possible and if yes......Does the computer have the ability to distinguish between the old and the new one?..if not.......could I change it before starting the configuration?.........

Thank you in advance for your help!

The section of the terms and conditions that you referenced is titled AUTOMATIC DELIVERY AND DOWNLOADING PREVIOUS PURCHASES. I interpret that to mean that there is a 10 device limit for automatic downloads and the subsequent redownloads on those 10 devices.

You may in fact be correct - but since day one - it has been preached on this site that you can download purchased content to as many iDevices as you own. I know that some of these are a little older - but a couple of these are very recent as well.

Dah•veed may be correct and I may be wrong about syncing to as many iDevices as you like, but every discussion that I have read on this site has indicated that the number of iDevices is unlimited. You will be fine with 2 iPads. I sync 3 iPods, 1 iPad and 1 iPhone to the same library and I have 4 computers authorized.

You can restore the new iPad from a backup of the old one and then sync with iTunes as-is if you want to have identical content on both devices. You can set up the new one identical to the the old one at first and then change the configuration at any time. You just have to go into each tab in iTunes - Music, Apps, Photos, Books and so on - and select only the content that you want on the new iPad. Check and Uncheck the content in each tab to select or deselect content and then click on Apply in the lower right corner of iTunes. Any time that you change the configuration on your device you must click on the Apply button for the changes to take place.

You will want to name your iPads with different names so that you can keep content straight on each device - if you want to have different content on each. It is very simple to change the name. This will explain it.

Once you sync each iPad with it's own content, iTunes should remember the content that was on that particular device the next time that you sync.

There does appear to be an unlimited right to sync iOS apps to iOS devices, separate from the iTunes media content rights. (there is a similar right for Mac Apps, as well.)

APP STORE PRODUCT USAGE RULES

[i] If you are an individual acting in your personal capacity, you may download and sync an App Store Product for personal, noncommercial use on any iOS Device you own or control.
