Total power on hours of SSD when computer is in sleep mode?

I was wondering if anyone knows the following;

The drives of computers have a record of the total "power on hours", which means how long the HD or SSD has been on (since day 1 you purchased the computer).

If you set the computer on "Sleep" mode, will this also show up in the "power on hours"? Because the computer wouldnt be totally off then.

It is a strange question but I do not understand if the SSD on the MBA stays on, half on, or on standby, and it counts as "power on hours"
