Why does "MobileDeviceService" stop working and close all the time on my PC?

I Have the newest iTunes on my pentium IV computer running vista sp2 and my ipad 2 3g. Whenever I start the service "Mobile Device Support" or something like that, an error message comes up saying "MobileDeviceService stopped working and was closed." I tried reinstalling iTunes and the service, but the problem persists. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
