May 11, 2012 6:32 PM in response to Stema001by JedWare,I was hoping firmware 5.1.1 would fix something. Apparently not. Still have same problem.
Anyone found any solution?
I want to know what percentage of users are affected? Is all the iphone 4s users just rebooting their phones everytime it occurs or covered by wi-fi all the time?

May 12, 2012 10:14 AM in response to JedWareby Stema001,It's seems that iOS 5.1.1 fixed the problem for my girlfriend and me. The iPhone 4S of my girlfriend and my iPhone 4S can reconnect the 3G/E network without flymode on/off after several hrs of 802.11.n Wi-Fi.

May 17, 2012 7:07 AM in response to Stema001by JedWare,I have reset network settings several times. The most recent after the 5.1.1 update. Still did not fix. I have tried a new Sim from At&t and still no fix. It will work for several days and them out of nowhere it stops working. It is very sporadic.
Maybe I need to try a new phone though that hasn't worked for some people, but if we all keep getting new phones each month maybe Apple will take notice and fix their bug!

May 17, 2012 9:31 AM in response to JedWareby Stema001,iOS 5.1.1 improved the situation. Now the iPhone 4S has to be connected to the WiFi network much longer to provoke the bug.

May 18, 2012 9:02 AM in response to Stema001by JedWare,I have given feedback weekly but I am growing impatient.
I just did a reset of network settings again yesterday and this time I did not connect to any wi-fi spots and low and behold it ceased to work again this morning. I don't think the wi-fi is related and it is all carrier. As posted earlier in this thread we are related to this other thread:
https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3410939?start=0&tstart=0
As far as I can tell everyone is saying it is carrier related and not phone hardware. Several people that have swapped phones still had the problem until they switched carriers.
The question is if it some setting incorrectly set by the carrier or some incompatibility with the iphone in general. I would expect more responses in these threads if it was more widespread.

May 18, 2012 9:29 AM in response to Stema001by JedWare,I called at&t and started a new trouble ticket to hopefully get this escalated up to engineering and find an answer.
They basically had me turn off the phone and while off they took it out of their network and re-added. They then asked be to turn on and go to att.com/ttr to confirm I was up and running.
I will wait for the internet to quit working and give a call back to see where I go from here. Since it has a new sim card already and the network settings have already been reset not sure what more tricks they want me to try.
I will not join any wi-fi networks to rule out a conflict with wi-fi switching.

May 18, 2012 2:19 PM in response to JedWareby JedWare,Well that lasted only 5 hours and now my phone has lost internet connection again.
Second call they wanted to do another Network Settings Reset on the iphone. I am happy to oblige but informed him I had done this numerous times previously. He wanted to do a phone swap but I figure I will give this a try and if it doesn't fix it, which I doubt, I will go to the apple store and get a replacement since it will be quicker.
I think we need to both give feedback to apple but also call at&t (or other carriers) so this starts getting more exposure.
For at&t just call 1-800-331-0500 enter cell phone number when prompted and then [6] then [2] through phone maze for internet support.
For apple just leave feedback at: http://www.apple.com/feedback/iphone.html

May 18, 2012 2:34 PM in response to JedWareby Stema001,I also tought my WiFi access point has a problem and so I did an reset and updated it with the latest firmwire. (Linksys Wap60n = access point)
Well, this hasn't fixed the problem.
But, as I said, 5.1.1 enlarged the time, which the bug needs to provoke the 3G issue.
Nevertheless we should keep feedbacking this.

May 19, 2012 9:37 PM in response to JedWareby JedWare,Well internet died again on Saturday and I made appointment with Genius Bar. The phone was not working when I took it in and they ran their standard diagnostics on the phone to no avail. They took down all my info and we added many comments about the symptom I was experiencing. In the end I left with a new phone to try.
I am now restoring to my new phone and will give this a try. Heck I would be happy if it could go longer than 24 hours before needing a reboot.
