how to reset imac to factory settings?

i am having problems resetting my imac to factory settings...i have tried rebooting it holding c with the disc in but it wont go to any screen. i have tried rebooting it holding command and s and nothing happens. can anyone help me some words of advice would be nice...im really trying to reset my administrative password...
