new iCloud accounts receive the @me.com domain. There is no "icloud.com" mail domain. It's a website only.
In fact, there will be an @icloud.com e-mail address. Those who are beta testing iOS6 are already using them. iOS6 is being released on Sept. 19 to the masses. In any event you won't be required to give up your me.com address, but there are rumors that .mac addresses are going away.
