What is the best way to convert .MPG to .MOV?

I have alot of mpg files that do not appear in Aperture and want to convert them to .MOV format. I also have Final Cut Pro. What is the simplest way to convert 200 or 300 mpg files to MOV format?

MacBook Pro 15, Mac OS X (10.7.2), 1TB external drive

Actually, there are many online apps can do the video conversion for you, such as zamzar, Acethinker Video Converter, mediaconverter, etc. They are totally free, and you don't have to download or install anything. Take acethinker as sample, here are the steps to convert MPG video to MOV video.

Step 1. Run your web browser and visit the video converter, you can google search for it., this app compatibles with IE, Firefox, Chrome, Safari, Opera, etc.

Step 2. Click 'Select files to start' to open the converter and import your MPG videos.

Step 3. In the format drop down menu, select MOV as output format

Step 4. Click 'Convert' and select a folder in your computer to save the converted video.

Step 5. Click 'Start' to run the conversion, it will take a few minutes to finish the task, Once the conversion is finished, you can click 'Open folder' to located your converted video.

I use a product called MPEG Streamclip, available here.

"MPEG Streamclip is a powerful free video converter, player, editor for Mac and Windows. It can play many movie files, not only MPEGs; it can convert MPEG files between muxed/demuxed formats for authoring; it can encode movies to many formats, including iPod; it can cut, trim and join movies. MPEG Streamclip can also download videos from YouTube and Google by entering the page URL.

You can use MPEG Streamclip to open and play most movie formats including MPEG files or transport streams; edit them with Cut, Copy, Paste, and Trim; set In/Out points and convert them into muxed or demuxed files, or export them to QuickTime, AVI, DV and MPEG-4 files with more than professional quality, so you can easily import them in a DVD authoring tool, and use them with many other applications or devices.

Supported input formats: MPEG, VOB, PS, M2P, MOD, VRO, DAT, MOV, DV, AVI, MP4, TS, M2T, MMV, REC, VID, AVR, M2V, M1V, MPV, AIFF, M1A, MP2, MPA, AC3, ... "

One great feature not mentioned above is that it has a batch ability!

Hope this helps, Tony
