I have alot of mpg files that do not appear in Aperture and want to convert them to .MOV format. I also have Final Cut Pro. What is the simplest way to convert 200 or 300 mpg files to MOV format?

Actually, there are many online apps can do the video conversion for you, such as zamzar, Acethinker Video Converter, mediaconverter, etc. They are totally free, and you don't have to download or install anything. Take acethinker as sample, here are the steps to convert MPG video to MOV video.
Step 1. Run your web browser and visit the video converter, you can google search for it., this app compatibles with IE, Firefox, Chrome, Safari, Opera, etc.
Step 2. Click 'Select files to start' to open the converter and import your MPG videos.
Step 3. In the format drop down menu, select MOV as output format
Step 4. Click 'Convert' and select a folder in your computer to save the converted video.
Step 5. Click 'Start' to run the conversion, it will take a few minutes to finish the task, Once the conversion is finished, you can click 'Open folder' to located your converted video.

+1. Video is not my thing, but I have used MPEG Streamclip and never had any problems with it. It will trim and crop and convert -- impressive, in my book (and useful, as that's what I looking to do).
Thank you. I installed Adapter on both the Mac and PC and it seems to work well after some fidgeting with the manual controls for bit rate and frame rate video settings. I have to manually set them at Maximum in order to preserve the approximate size of .MOV files from my iPhone 4.
