Unfamiliar process in Activity Monitor
In the last two days, I've noticed a process named "ath" in the Activity Monitor. I don't recognize it...can someone tell what this process is? Thanks!

Hello:
I am not trying to be flippant, but why are you looking at the activity monitor? Are you having performance problems? If you are not, looking at that stuff is a complete waste of time.

In terminal type ps ax. Processes launched out of bundles will show the pathname to the bundle. Maybe that will give you a clue. Make sure your terminal window is wide enough since ps ax will truncate its output to the window width (or use ps axww and the output will wrap).
ath is the part of the AirTrafficHost process used by iTunes and iOS 5 to sync iPhones/iPads over a wireless rather than USB connection. It's not surprising for me to find it running hot during a sync, but I wouldn't expect it to be persistent, or run for more than a minute or two at a time.
Thanks, I'll look at this.
That answers my question. I don't think its using any substantial part of my processing capacity, but I noticed its appearance shortly after syncing my iPad over my Wi-Fi network, so that explains it. Thanks for the answers!
