I cannot update apps on my iphone. When i try it says "cannot connect to iTunes store" Yet i can still download new apps without any problem.

have you tried updating through iTunes? log out of the itunes account on your iphone in settings, and activate it again?
Nope went into settings and into the store option. I have signed out and back in again fine. I tried to update it again same error message cannot connect to itunes store.
What do you mean updating through Itunes, I couldnt see a way to update them through my pc while my phone was hooked up. It said there was an update for certain updates but no where to update them.
if you look at the left side, under music and movies, it should say applications or programs. press there, and at the botton to your right it says look for updates or something like that. (mine is in norwegian). Press there and update your iphone after all your apps has been downloaded.
I didnt have a button that said look for updates. The only check for updates bit is about the phone software itself. I plugged it into my computer again checked everywhere and there was no where to update my apps there. There was a bit to authorise my pc which i thought i already did but i did that again anyways. But when i took it off my pc and tried updating an app, it still said cannot connect to itunes store. Its pretty poor from apple as it must be a stupid glitch form updating to the ios 5 but it is really irritating not being able to update any apps yet i can download new ones fine.
That sounds weird. mine works perfectly. You are checking for updates throgh applications/programs in itunes, not through your phone, right? and you dont have to connect your phone while updating apps on your computer. Are you using iCloud? have you checked the box in your phone which says "download updates when available" or something similar to that?
I click on the app store on my phone, i select updates on the bottom row tab. It tells me 3 programs need updating. I try to update any of the three apps by clicking the update button which prompts me for my Apple ID and password which i put in and then the screen flicks to where the app is on my phone as normal then i get the "cannot connect to the itunes store" error message. Thats the whole procedure, i am not using the cloud and i have tried having my phone with the automatically download new purchases apps switch both on and off, it doesnt make a difference.
I'm having the same problem. It started after updating my phone to the iOS5.
I am also having the same problem with my iPhone 4s to since updating to the OS 5.1.1. Only apps I'm trying to update from my phone keeps giving the cannot download at this time and the I can either click the done button which stops it and leaves the app faded and un useable or I can click retry which keeps trying but I keep getting the message cannot download at this time every few seconds with the same buttons I mentioned.
