Is it possible to copy and paste chemdraw images into Pages?

Is it possible to copy and paste chemdraw images into Pages?

I am able to take a molecule and copy into pages easily. However, if I select that image in Pages and copy it, when I paste it back into chemdraw I cannot edit it.

MacBook Pro, iOS 5

Pasting the drawing into Pages converts it to a format supported by Pages, apparently a single layer format in this case.

Saving the drawing (in Chemdraw) in its original format should result in a file which you can continue to edit.

Copying and pasting the graphic turned it into a basically uneditable .pdf file.

Programs like Adobe Illustrator can open and edit these but it obviously won't be in the format used by your originating application.
