Canceling MobileMe crashes email setup

Signed up for iCloud, it seems to be working fine.

Cancled MobileMe, that removed duplication of some contacts, etc.

But now the phone cannot log on to Mobile Me email (yes, because it was cancled) AND the Settings/Mail, Contacts... app crashes everytime i look at the MobileMe account (this is the only place i know of to delete the account). I have tried a hard reset and other easy stuff. I have looked through other discussions and have not seen the issue.

How do i lose Mobile Me for good?

Any help would be most appreciated.
