Why wont my iPhone 4 connect to my wifi using the password?

Both myself and my partener have been having the same problem for about 24 hours now and it is driving me potty!!

Our iphones yesterday decided to forget our home wifi network and passwords. Although it was still 'see' the network, when we ask to join it using the password it either says 'unable to join' or 'incorrect password'.

We are definately entering the right password and our laptop is working fine using the wifi - it is just our phones.

How can we fix the problem??

Reboot your wifi router and try logging in again.

If that don't work, do a hard reset of the phones. Hold both the power and home buttons until the apple logo appears (ignore the power off slider).

And if it still doesn't work, last resort would be to go Settings/Reset and Reset Network Settings.

Hi there

My wife and I both got the same issue on our iphone 4s last week.

Very strange -All our other devices continue to connect to the wireless N router - macbooks, ipads etc, but iphones? Nope! Both see the router but can't connect!

We have hard reset, reset all connection settings - everything - no luck. Surely this cant be a coincidence?

Thats what I did as I didnt think it would be the actual wifi and more an issue with the phone.

Turns out that a good old 'turn it off and on again' works!! I switched off the router for 5 minutes, switched it back on and bingo! wifi back on - although no explanation as to why this happened and very annoying!

Very strange but all working again now - so thank you 😀
