stuck on iCal wants to use the "login" keychain

Brand new to Mac computer. New MacBook Air set up beautifully, worked for several hours, then started giving messages about using the "login" keychain. I know that password. It is different from my itunes password, and also different from mail password, all entered in the computer when asked.

Now I have a screen hung with 3 things on it - iCal wants to use the "login" keychain, Mail wants to use the "login" keychain, and "Loading Network". I'm not on the network.

Any ideas?
