How do I "un-thread" conversations in Mail?

I regularly miss emails because I don't see the new ones due to this "Threaded" view.

I want to be able to see replies as NEW emails instead of as an addition to an older email somewhere in my mailbox list.

That little blue dot isn't all that easy to notice, and, sometimes, people tell me I have missed several emails that I can't find ANYWHERE on my computer or in my MobileMe, etc.

Switching over to The Cloud frankly has me worried, as I've seen plenty of people with complaints and problems as I browse the forums.

I can't find a way to "de-thread" in my Mail prefs panes.

Anybody with an answer out there?
