I recently bought a Mid 2011 iMac with 4GB of PC3-10600, 1333MHz DDR3 SDRAM and I would like to transfer the RAM to my wife's Mid 2009 that has the original memory of 2 GB PC3-8500, 1067 MHz DDR3.
Will it work?

It may work. Sometimes installing faster RAM works, and sometimes not. You can just try it.

That's right. There is no definitive answer. Sometimes they work, and sometimes they don't.
It work I just buy macbook pro and I'm installing 1600MHz DDR3 it work fine
I tried it on my Mid 2009 15 inch Macbook pro 2.53 ghz. It works fine althought, it will probably underclock to 1067 mhz. If you test the RAM if it will boot up, be sure to close the lid under the macbook, otherwise it will not boot up because there is a sensor underneath preventing the mac from starting unless the lid is closed.

Yes i've figured that the ram not gonna run on higher frequency from what the MBP support (1067Mhz) but I'm still a happy camper. Oh! And thanks for the lid tip I would probably test it without closing it just to save time.
You are welcome Sysco...=) If putting both 4 gb PC3-10600 won't do, you can have the option of using the original PC3-8500 (2gb) and the PC3-10600 4G, that would make for a total of 6 gb of Ram. It would also work fine. Cheers!
See the problem is with that 6GB setup that my MBP has only two memory slots that has 2x1GB RAM in it and my new iMac came with 2x2GB RAM. So it's eighter 2 or 4GB. I hope it will work with the 4GB.
