Your profile says you are using OS 10.7.2. Is that correct? What version of iMovie are you using? If it is version 9 then follow Karsten's advice. If it is version 10 then share to file and select your flash drive as the destination. Make sure the stick is formatted for Mac OS extended journaled.

Hi Jim - thanks for the reply. I am on version 10, and I had not tried that approach - was trying to drag it from the desktop to the flash drive. I did just have success in adding it to the Theater, and then dragging that version to the Flash Drive - and it only took 2.8 gigs of space. I'm watching it now on my 65" TV, and it seems to be very clear, so no real loss in definition. Maybe it was the formatting of the disk, as I thought that might be it, but when I went into the disk, I couldn't find a menu option to format it. Thanks again - I'm good now.
in case you meant EXPORTING a Project to a stick …
in the Share/'Export using Quiktime' dialog you're allowed to export to other media.
Good Question - and I notice there are no good answers - my movie is too long to use the quicktime (which also requires iCloud). Same issue, and we could use some help!
