Compressor 3.5.3 "this computer" not showing up

Hello All!

Has anyone had an issue with compressor not showing "this computer" as a submission option??

I have created Quickclusters which worked previously along with "this computer" as an option. As of yesterday, neither option has showed up and I have done nothing different to the system.

I have reinstalled compressor and Qmaster, but to no success.

Any advice or experience is appreciated!

There was a thread recently with the same problem but I don't think it was ever resolved.

I appreciate the response!

I have tried reinstalling compressor and qmaster. The only thing I have not done yet is trash the prefs. I was able to get my quickcluster to show up again by simply showing it where to put the cache again, however 'this computer' still is not an option.

I can not reinstall the OS as I am in the middle of a job. I will try trashing the prefs today and let you know.

I trashed the prefs using compressor repair, however it still does not work.

Any other ideas aside from reinstalling OS?

Try creating a new account in system preferences: accounts and logging out and then in with the new account.

Is it an Xserve issue?

Try disconnecting the xserve and see if that makes a difference.

The Xserve is the platform in which FCP studio is running. It's a self-contains system.

Is FCP approved to run on the xserve? I thought it was just networked with it.

Its odd. It has been working perfectly for nearly a year. It hasn't been until the last week that it has been acting up.

have you done any software or OS updates or installs? I strongly recommend that you clone your startup drive before doing any updates so you can quickly return your system to it's working state if anything goes wrong.

I appreciate your help Michael.

Here is what I know so far, after many re-install attemps of Qmaster and Compressor, I was able to install both of them under a new admin user. Then I logged back in under my original user and everything is back to normal.

Not sure why this is going on. Seems like some sort of issue with my original user (admin).

Any thoughts as to why?

I appreciate your assistance throughout!
