deleted podcasts keep coming back on iphone and Mac

I have teh exact same thing, I delete pods in itunes and they continue to reappear in both itunes and iphone.

I think it has something to do with the syncing of the phone and itunes

I am having the exact same issues. Deleted old podcasts from iTunes on Mac OS Lion. Set iTunes to sync podcasts to my iPhone 4 manually. Old podcasts transfer automatically to my iTunes library upon syncing. I delete the podcasts (again). Sync. Old podcasts transfer from iPhone again.

Rinse. Wash. Repeat.

It appears to be an error in most recent (10.5) version of iTunes interacting with iOS 5.0.1 as that error did not occur before 5.0.1 with iTunes 10.5.

Any suggestions?

Ok. I did it.

Set iTunes NOT to sync podcasts. Delete podcast from iTunes. Delete podcast on iPhone (swipe left to right across name of individual podcast, tap 'delete'). Sync (remember Not syncing podcasts). The podcasts you tried to delete are now gone and won't transfer to iTunes from iPhone. Change iTunes settings to sync podcasts you want. Sync again. Voila. Done.

Seems this is an error in 5.0.1 as this wasn't a problem with 5.0 or earlier iOS incarnations.

Same problem. I delete podcasts on iTunes, I delete them on the phone (and see they are gone), I tell it not to sync podcasts. Doesn't matter: any podcasts downloaded on the phone are put back into iTunes when the phone syncs.

I had the same problems. It would not delete certain episodes of one particular podcast. It kept syncing them to my Windows 7 PC every time I would sync my iPhone 4. I followed the solution posted above and it worked.

I've run into this problem twice now. Usually I download podcasts to iTunes and manage them from there. Done with one, delete it from iTunes, and it's gone from the iPhone. But when I download podcasts directly to my iPhone, like when I travel, then I can't get rid of them as discussed above.

I have also the same problem but I downloaded episodes directly on iPhone and now I can see any list of them anywhere. But are there since the phone is full (space)...

manage to delete all. From Settings / General / Usage / Storage .....

I have been pulling my hair out with this problem. Like you it is only with the podcasts that I download directly to my iphone. Solution worked for me too.
