Mac Pro 12 core 2.66 is only showing 10600 instead of 1333 for ram!

Hi, I recently purchased a 2010 Mac Pro 12 core system. The online specs says the memory is clocked at 1333 mhz. But, when I checked out the system it was loaded with only 10600 ram. So, I upgraded the system memory accordingly. But, my system only shows 10600. Is there a setting somewhere which allows me to set internal clock to 1333 for the ram/System?

Thanks

10600 is the chip identification. 1333 is the clock speed. In your Westemere it cannot run at any speed except 1333.

Edit:

However, now that I look at how the RAM is reporting in my Profiler report I see it is doing the same thing. Either Profiler is messed up in Lion or the memory was programmed to report itself incorrectly. I also have Samsung PC10600 and it runs at 1333 MHz but is reporting itself as 1066 MHz.

Don't worry about it - it cannot run at slower speed than the system bus no matter what it is reporting.

PC3-10600 is a memory specification - 1066 MHz and 1333 MHz are a clock speed.

PC3-8500 is spec'd to run at 1066 MHz.

PC3-10600 is spec'd to run at 1333 MHz

Many modules are programmed to be able to run at multiple speeds. IE: PC3-10600 running on a 1066 MHz bus designed for PC3-8500.

They are *supposed* to report themselves as the correct speed that they are running at, but that is a function of how they are programmed, not the speed they are actually running at. Profiler can only tell you what the programming on the module tells it.

You cannot control or toggle the speed of the memory bus. If you install RAM that will not run at the bus speed then it will not work or the computer will not boot.
