What is best for a 6 year old girl - an iPad or an iPod touch?

my Niece loves drawing on my iPad, but I never let her play with it unless she's sitting down.

The touch might be hardier and easier for little fingers but they like the real estate of an iPad.

there are whole threads devoted to sturdy cases that can protect the iPad's screen because one little drop and the glass can break.

The Touch is cheaper, so maybe more 'tolerable' if little fingers get clumsy.

I think if I were shopping, I'd also look into other tablets that are cheaper and easier to handle if she gets bored or it gets broken. If she can prove that she can be careful with a cheap one, then she could upgrade to an expensive one. But that's me 🙂

I would get a child an iPad. There are reasons that when we were in primary grades that paper, pencils and crayons were a bit on the large size and to me the larger iPad surface carries on that reasoning, it is a bit easier for little, less cordinated hands to manipulate. Do a search for child-proof iPad cases for the wide variety available that will make the iPad uniquly a child's device, protect the iPad, as well as make it bit easier for a child to handle.
