not copied to iPad because you are not authorized for it on this computer

I'm having exactly the same issue with a movie I just downloaded to my mac. I try to sync it and get the same message. Strange as I had just downloaded a movie about an hour before which works fine. I'm going down the refund option.

Thanks, that worked for me. Not sure why apple let this happen. Surely they are aware of these issues, why don't they let people know, or do something about it?

I am having the same problem with my ipad and ipod. Does anyone have a workaround for apps? I can't access most of my apps and podcasts on my ipad (and podcasts on my ipod).

It seems like this is a glitch in itunes, which apple should address, but I can't seem to get any support without paying extra.

Thanks, redmatter. For some reason, every time I try to download from my ipad, I get an error message saying I cannot connect to the iTunes store. This started happening at the same time as the other authorization problems. It's bizarre, and I am totally stuck without most of my apps.

I just upgraded to Lion and iCloud and had the exact same problem. Switching the file extension worked. It was a hastle but glad it fixed the issue. It appears to only be a problem with files I downloaded (or redownloaded) to my Mac after I upgraded.

I just purchased two films: Predator and The Running Man.

Both of them downloaded as .m4v files, but the problem only happened with Predator. The Running Man transfered to the iPad just fine.

My laptop is old (2009) but was upgraded to Lion when it was released, and the iPad is the 3rd generation. I didn't try authorizing/deauthorizing for fear of having to re-sync everything. The renaming trick worked.

I found an easier solution. This happened to me after I upgraded to Lion. Anything bought after that upgrade gave this error.

Solution:

1. Go to itunes and download and install the latest version of itunes on your mac.

2. In itunes store, 'Authorize' the computer (it might tell you you are already authorised.

3. Plug in the ipad and synch.

4. Copy the films etc as normal
