My friend also had this issue with the same phone and after plugging it into his computer the phone worked again. I'm having no such luck 😟

Your battery may have completely run down. When you connect it to power, leave it. It can take even up to an hour to get enough charge to get it to a useable state.
Although, I believe even fully drained, you should see some kind of indication on the screen of charging in progress, but it's very dim.
When after a full charge (on the charger, not the computer) the 4S still will not start, hold the Home button and the Sleep/wake button at the same time, keep holding and ignore everything on the screen, keep holding until you see the white apple logo.
This will not erase data.
I see the white apple icone but after 1 or 2 minutes it goes off again
My iPhone 4s seems to have turned itself off and now it will not turn back on. Plugging it into the mains and the computer is having no effect. Any ideas?
