Teacher, is it true ? intel Mac will not run Appleworks ?

I read in MacRumos this :

" Another tidbits revealed to resellers, AppleWorks no longer comes with the iMac with no plans of a universal version. "

Is it true ????

WHAT A DISASTER !!!

I use AW with my 12" G4 pb, a WACOM bluetooth graphics tablet, and a projector every school day.

Paint and Draw documents in AW are my CHALKBOARD !

I write in all colors, draw lines of all kinds ( graphing equations ), shade
regions in tint and transparent brush modes ( graphing systems of inequalities in overlapping colors/patterns ) etc.

I drop QT newsclippings from TV that involve math in real life.

I play sound files in QT.

I play SnapzPro arithmetic procedures like long division as moving reminders.

APPLEWORKS IS ABSOLUTELY INDISPENSIBLE TO ME.

Even Office has nothing like it --- lousy paint pallets , tools etc.

Pages and Keynote can't do what AW does for real-time annotations,
text,

QUESTION : Does this mean I am shut out of the new machines if I want to use AppleWorks ???????

Any suggestions appreciated.

Yes, Apple are simply not providing any productivity software on the new iMacs, neither AppleWorks or iWork.

WHAT A DISASTER !!!

Why? You own a copy of AppleWorks. Just transfer to a new iMac if and when you get one.

No. It works on the new iMacs. It's just not bundled with them.

Ahhhh - thank goodness !!!

But if no universal code is provided --- how will it work on the intel chip ?
Will it use Rosetta ?

Does anyone out there have a pro-book with intel cpu
and runs AW via Rosetta ?

Does Rosetta run it smoothly/fast ? --- i.e., does writing on the projected screen lag behind the strokes on the WACOM tablet ?

Hello

A detailed answer by Peggy DeLise is available in this thread:

<http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=314806&start=15&tstart=0>

It is available in the thread's page 2.

AppleWorks will certainly not be available as "universal code" because its successor is on the road under the name iWork.
