How do I get the number pad on the external keyboard to function like a number pad?

Have a standard Apple keyboard plugged into my MacBook Pro, but the number pad is functioning like arrow keys. If I press the F6 key on the MacBookPro keyboard itself, nothing changes.

Take a look at Keyboard Viewer - it should be available in the Input menu in the main menubar - that's the menu that shows a flag when you have more than one keyboard layout available for choosing. If it's not shown there, go to System Preferences > Keyboard > Keyboard and checkmark the item to show it.

Does the representation display of the keyboard include the keypad area?

I was about to write that it did not show the keypad area, but as soon as I started typing this it showed the keypad.

But when I go back to Adobe InDesign where the keypad wasn't functioning, it is still not functioning. So I tried keypad with other programs, and it works. So the issue, you've helped me discover, is with Adobe InDesign not recognizing the keypad.
